Can 1Password Fill in Websites based on IP Addresses?
I do alot of server maintenance in labs that are represented by IP Addresses instead of DNS Names. Even though all these are stored in my 1 Password Database, the Web Browser 1Password doesn't recognize the websites. Can 1 Password fill in websites that have an IP address as oppoosed to DNS Names?
1Password Version: 6.3.4

Hi @chrisbog,
It can yes. I access my Synology NAS and Draytek router using just an IP address and it's always worked without issue for me. I assume you're storing the addresses just as you would for any other page e.g.
http://192.168.0.2/...
? If that's what you're doing please do let us know along with what browser you use. I can't imagine that it should make a difference but no point glancing over something on the off-chance that it turns out to be important.0 -
For example:
My Server is: https://192.168.243.50/vsphere-client/?csp
My URL stored in 1 Password is: https://192.168.243.50/vsphere-client/
When I click on 1Password, it doesn't automatically suggest the username/password.
I have to manually copy and paste the configuration from the 1Password popup.

Greetings @chrisbog,
hmm...
- If you edit the Login item you will see two now visible options, one of which is title display. Is it set to Always (the default) or Never display in browser. If it's set as the latter that would explain why it isn't showing up in 1Password mini. If it's showing the default setting then this isn't the cause.
- What happens if you create a new Login item using the steps outlined on our page How to save a Login manually in your browser? Does everything look identical and does it too not show up in 1Password mini?
Hopefully we learn something interesting from these and discover what the cause is

So. I did more testing. Firstly, the login that I am talking about I created manually. I did "New Servers", set the URL to https://192.168.243.50/vsphere-client, and set the username and password accordingly. I also did verify that Always is set.
I then when to https://192.168.243.50/vshpere-client and it doesn't automatically suggest the password. As a result, I manually entered the username and password, and then the 1Password helper asked me if I wanted to save it as a new login. When it did, it saved a login (instead of a Server) and stored the url in the Website field: https://192.168.243.50/websso/SAML2/SSO/vsphere.local?SAMLRequest=.........
Could it be that since I saving it as a Server it doesn't work the same way?

Greetings @chrisbog,
That is definitely the reason. 1Password will only fill using certain types of items and the full list is:
- Login items.
- Identity items.
- Credit Card items.
- Password items.
The others are for storing of information rather than any real interaction. I do understand why a Server item would make sense and it would be nice if it would fill but what you really want here is a Login item. Hopefully that isn't too bad given it will allow you to fill.

Nope. It just wasn't very clear....

Ah, thanks for following up. I'm sorry for the confusion there! Login items can be used to fill login credentials (and similarly, Credit Card items and Identity items, respectively, can be used to fill that information), so if you save it as one of those you should have better results. We're here if you need anything else! :)
