I was able to sync data between two iphones and three macs using the standalone version a few months ago: did an update to the standalone version cripple this ability?

You can still sync your data between all the devices you describe using either iCloud or Dropbox. Could you please tell us what trouble you're having so we can help you sort it out? Syncing via these two methods should be working fine for you! :chuffed:
