Custom keyboard password/login entry
I've read a number of discussions about 1Password building a custom keyboard to allow login/password entry on websites and apps that don't have 1Password built in. This would make 1Password so much more useful on iOS. This discussion explains it best but this and all other discussions on the topic appear closed without any response from 1Password: https://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/43528/1password-custom-keyboard

@Ben replied to that thread and said:
"The problem with such a solution is that iOS only allows system keyboards in password fields. Any keyboard we could create would not be allowed in password fields, which would mostly defeat the purpose."
That's still the case from Apple, so I'm not sure what else you want AgileBits to say (I'm not with them either). If they can't use a custom keyboard in password fields (which is good for security in general from Apple's point of view; AgileBits is one of very few vendors I'd want to have this access) making one would be largely a waste of developer resources. Android is a much more open system, which kind of stinks if you're aiming for security but let's security tools have more flexibility in their offerings as well. Always trade-offs :-)

Hi folks,
It is still the case that 3rd party keyboards are not allowed in password fields on iOS. As such any keyboard we might develop would not be able to fill in passwords, which seemingly defeats most of the purpose. Rather than build a keyboard that can't fill passwords we'd much rather focus our efforts on getting 3rd party app developers to add support for the password manager extension to their apps:
AgileBits Blog | Apps ❤ 1Password
If Apple ever were to allow 3rd party keyboards in password fields (something I'm not sure I'd even suggest they do) then building a keyboard is certainly something we'd look into.
Thanks!

Hi Dave And Great Team!
I can't live anymore without 1PASSWORD! :-)
So .. I would like know if you are working on a irritating situation I have to face with when try to log-in with some apps on iOS that still don't use 1Password system.
It's possible bypass this trough an extended virtual keyboard appearing to fill the credential fields...by yourself implemented or modified that show the 1password key?
Thanks man for the great job you are doing.
Best Regards

Hi @stefano71,
Thanks for taking the time to write in with this request. I've merged your thread with another on this same subject. Unfortunately at this time iOS does not allow for what you're asking. I've outlined in more detail here:

One suggestion for a custom keyboard would be to auto fill the username and copy the password to the clipboard so when we move input focus to the password field and the system keyboard is forced on us, we can still paste the password in. At the moment for accounts where I have complex username and passwords, I have to open 1Password twice to copy each one. It's very tedious.
