Why was password created by 1Password later not recognized?

I used the password generator to create a random password for this forum. Days later I tried unsuccessfully to enter the forum by using the Chrome extension, then clicking on the forums link in the Logins section. I then manually copied & pasted the password into the forums sign-in page, but was still rejected, so I had to reset the password. How could this occur? Thanks.

    I'm sorry you're having trouble using a new password you generated!

    First, can you please verify that you followed the steps here: Change your passwords and make them stronger

    When you generated that password, are you sure you made the change on the website as well as in the corresponding Login item in 1Password? It needs to be updated in both places - so for example, if you only changed it in the Login item in 1Password, the website would still be expecting the old password.

    Now that you've reset your forum password, are you able to log out and then sign in again by using the 1Password extension?
