Bug: Task Switcher shows unlocked data

I just encountered a bug but I cannot really reproduce it. Maybe its a timing thing... What I did:

  • open and unlock 1P app
  • lock iPhone, wait...
  • new Facebook notification on lock screen
  • Select via 3D touch (iPhone 7+)
  • initiate unlock via touch on notification
  • unlock phone via Touch-ID
  • Facebook app opens and shows notification
  • use double home button click (or 3D touch swipe, IDK) to open task switcher
  • bug: within the task switcher, the 1P that was opened in the previous session (before the iPhone was locked!) shows me data instead of the usual grey locked screen
  • I think, however, the app was locked when I switched to it

    Hi @danone,

Could you please let us know what you have set in 1Password for the settings in Settings > Security?

    Thanks.

Everything is set to "on" and automatic locking is set to 5 minutes.

  • Thanks @danone. So to confirm lock on exit is turned on?

    Yes, sir!

  • Good morning @danone. Thanks for taking the time to write in. I just tried reproducing this issue on my 6s without success. Obviously we take things like this quite seriously. I've pinged one of my teammates to attempt to reproduce this on a 7+ to see if that makes a difference.

While we wait for those results to come in, is this something you can reproduce reliably?

As I said: unfortunately not :-(

@danone: I think I might know what's going on here, but I agree that it's difficult to reproduce reliably since this is sort of just a quirk of how iOS handles multitasking. If I'm understanding you correctly, you were using 1Password previously and didn't switch away from it. Unless you do, 1Password doesn't get notified that it's no longer the active app, and then you'll still see its most recent view in the image shown in the multitasking interface. However, if you switch away from 1Password first, this doesn't happen. Does that describe what you're experiencing?

@brenty that really sounds like my case. I didn't switch away but locked the phone and reopened using the Facebook notification.

  • Thanks for the information @danone. We'll keep an eye on this, but unfortunately it may simply be a case of how iOS is designed to operate, and something to be aware of.
