Description

Truncation of localized text for Spanish locales. Spillover of preferences tabs to "More" menu under button labeled "»".

Steps to reproduce

  • Set system language preference to Spanish.
  • Launch 1Password.app.
  • Do NOT unlock. (If already unlocked, then proactively lock.)
  • Hit Cmd-, to open preferences.
  • Select the tab "Sincronización" (orangey arrows).

Expected

  • The "Desbloquea 1Password para…" text next to the disabled sync controls is fully readable.

Actual

  • The text is truncated.

Notes

Is it also intended that 2 further settings tabs spill over into a "More" menu, accessed by hitting the guillemet button "»"? The preferences window cannot be resized, so there's no way to get them into the window. :(

I suspect they're pushed off the window due to the lengthy tab labels in Spanish. Testing using the double-length pseudolocalization might have identified this issue during development.

    Hi @jeremywsherman

Thank you for taking some time to report this issue with the localization. You nailed the explanation: text in Spanish tends to be longer than in English. It's always an interesting process to find the best balance between new strings being accurate and them fitting correctly in the screen  Thanks for pointing out the truncated text on the lock screen, we'll look into a better fit for this!

About the the options hidden behind » it is indeed expected behavior, one way we have to keep things tidy. We might for sure consider a different alternative, like making the screen wider, but I can't promise anything on this regard.

If you bump into any other localization issues or bugs like this one, please let us know so we can smash them right away! ;)

    ¡Que tengas un excelente día!
