Secondary vault no longer syncs via WLAN

I have a secondary vault that I use to keep my elderly father's logins available to me and safe. I have used my phone to record changes to logins and then sync them to my Mac. This has always worked in the past. I noticed today that the data in the Mac was not updated from a recent visit where I made changes to the items in the secondary vault instance in my iPhone. I checked the iPhone settings and they seem correct and the primary vault does sync properly. However, if I navigate to the secondary vault sync settings, the Sync Service field says WLAN but I cannot go any further. If I touch Sync Service nothing happens - I cannot get to the area where I see the Mac WLAN server to select it. When I touch Sync nothing happens.

For clarity, the Mac has the WLAN server running and the program is unlocked. The secondary vault is selected on the server tab. The sync tab says the primary and secondary vaults should sync via WLAN.

Any thoughts on what is wrong here? Have I forgotten something?

Thanks

  • Hi @Welshdog

I'd like to ask you to create some Diagnostics Reports, one from each of your devices:

Attach the Diagnostics Reports to an email message addressed to support+forum@agilebits.com.

Along with your emails please include this information:

    1) A link to this thread: https://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/73890/
    2) Your forum username: Welshdog

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here so we can track down the report(s) and ensure that this issue is dealt with quickly. :)

Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks very much!

Hello, I sent the diag reports, but never got a response.

@Welshdog: Sorry about that! I don't see anything in the inbox matching this address though, and since you didn't post the Support ID here as Ben requested, we didn't know you'd sent it. :(

If you'll post that in your reply, I'll take a look right away...but if you're still having this issue, it may be best to generate a fresh diagnostics report first. I look forward to hearing back from you!

I'll try again. Just for clarity it was the automated response with the Support ID that I never got. Back in a bit.

Well still no confirmation. I'm sending to support+forum@agilebits.com - is this correct?

  • @Welshdog

That is the correct address, yes. Sorry to hear this still isn't working. Could you please try sending from a different email address, or try sending to support@agilebits.com instead?

    Thanks

Sorry somehow sent two reports from iOS:
Confirmation from the iOS report email: [#TIB-56686-116]
Second confirmation iOS report email: [#SRD-58523-916]

Ah and here comes the Mac report: [#SAM-23671-369]

According to your reports the WLAN server isn't even enabled on the Mac.

Please see this guide to configure WLAN syncing:

    Sync your 1Password data

Please note that WLAN syncing is considered an advanced option. There are a lot of variables that are outside of our control (such as firewalls -- of which you have two). We highly recommend using our 1Password.com service instead to maintain access to your data from all of your devices.

    Thanks.

Yeah I forgot about the firewall on the Mac, it's off now. Does the diag report say where the second firewall is? Plus WLAN was off because I had been trying various setting configurations to see if I could get it working, I've turned it back on and created a new report: [#DKB-91268-349]

Additionally I am including a screen grab from the iPhone to show how the two vault settings appear in the Sync window. Note that primary says "Set Up Syncing..." but the secondary just says "WLAN" and cannot be changed.

Okay, well I have it working now, it could have been operator error, but let me explain. The only way it will sync is if, on the phone, I navigate to Settings>Sync>Primary - Set Up Syncing>Start Syncing>Sync With WLAN Server>Mac running WLAN>Sync Now. If I try selecting Sync Now on the page right after Settings>Sync nothing happens. Or if if go to Settings>Sync>Secondary Vault> Sync Now it does not sync. Only the Sync Now button at the end of that first string will work.

So yes, I guess I was not going to the right area. My mistake was trying to use the other Sync buttons found on other areas. I am pretty sure I had previously tried the sync method that ultimately has worked. I did go through the troubleshooting steps tonight cycling WiFi, restarting etc, so it's possible that helped too.

Anyway, sorry for troubling you with this. Thanks so much for your help.

@Welshdog: Right. It isn't possible to set which vaults the server syncs on the client. You can go to 1Password for Mac Preferences > WLAN Server and select which vaults to sync there. The Primary will always be included though. Let me know if that helps!
