I'm having this same problem. (I just upgraded to the subscription service, and after relogging in via my iPhone, iPad etc. am not seeing any consistency in the count. I'm glad you're working this bug. It strikes me as an incredibly VITAL fix, because no human is going to want to check to see if the data is actually not in sync or just showing a miscount.
Computers are supposed to be really good at verifying data, and this suggests something really askew in your programming. Plus it create a constant state of worry for your users (which is not a good state to put folks in because it diminishes their enjoyment of your product, as well as diminishing their appreciation of its value). Folks pay for products that give them peace of mind, not ones that rob them of it. Just saying...
