Folder sync in iOS / support for "personal cloud" solutions
Dear agilebits, it looks like your strategy is fully geared to bring users onto your own cloud platform, I can understand that.
However, it would be good to have an option for those of us who prefer to use "personal cloud" solutions (i.e. self-owned file syncing solutions across devices). I suspect many people will use these as more accessible "personal cloud" storage devices like those from WD become available.
1password iOS needs a folder sync option.
1password Android needs an updated folder sync feature using the opvault format.
I wish that in line with your support for privacy, support for "personal cloud" solutions would find a place in your strategy too.
Have a great 2017!

@apmaio: I mentioned this in another discussion where you brought this up, but wanted to add it here as well for you and anyone else curious:
iOS apps cannot access the filesystem, so it isn't possible for 1Password for iOS to sync with an arbitrary folder. I agree that it would be nice if this were at least a possibility, but unless Apple makes some pretty fundamental changes to iOS (I don't see this happening) it will likely never be possible.
Certainly we can consider supporting various alternative sync solutions, but unfortunately this needs to be done on a case-by-case basis as things stand today, and we get requests for a number of 3rd party products and almost certainly cannot support all of them.
Anyway, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news there, but it's a new year and there's always at least some hope for the future. :)

Hello @brenty !
Good news! It seems like our hope for the future wasn't in vain. Apple did make some changes to iOS this year allowing access to folders trough file providers (iOS 11 FileProvider API). The even better news about this is that storage services such as iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, Tresorit only to name a few have already implemented this API in their iOS apps, allowing third party access and tracking of file changes. Isn't this wonderful?
It seems such a good opportunity for 1Password to support folder sync-ing trough this API allowing users to use whatever app they prefer to store their vaults in. Please, pretty please, implement folder sync for iOS now that it's possible.

We don’t currently have any plans to add additional sync options, but we do appreciate the feedback. It isn’t the direction we want to take 1Password at this time, but may be something we can consider down the road.
