2FA vs static PIN for WhatsApp

WhatsApp has added 2FA to its iOS app. However, rather than push the randomly generated 6 digit TOTP PIN to users, it appears to be a user generated PIN? That doesn't make any sense, does it?

    Hi @wkleem,

    This is not TOTP, which is the form of two step verification that 1Password supports. This is just a static PIN. You can store it in the notes section, or in a custom section.
