New Account from Mac App Store Frozen

I was using a trial version - which I believe I downloaded form the web. When the trial ended I purchased the program through the Mac App store. After logging in the account says it is frozen. The point of purchasing through the App store was not to have to pay a monthly fee. Now that seems the be what is required to un-freeze my account. I emailed tech support but have not gotten any real response.
