Wednesday morning, March 1st, the app is missing. Can this be recovered?

Was there an update on February 28th that would have deleted this app from my phone? I find it impossible that I accidentally held the app down long enough for it to shake, then hit delete this app, all in one fell swoop.
Is there a way to recover my 137 passwords stored on the app?
Let me know, thank you.

  • Hi @JohnCaldwell,

Thanks for taking the time to write in.

There were no updates to 1Password for iOS released on / around February 28th. Additionally, as far as I'm aware, it isn't possible to delete an app through the update process. I don't know of any way that we (AgileBits) could intentionally or unintentionally completely remove the app from your device.

That depends on how you were using 1Password. If you were using a 1Password.com account membership then you'd simply need to sign back into your account. All of your data would be stored in the account. If you were using the standalone product (sans-subscription) then by default the data is stored only in the app, and removing the app also removes the data. If you had set up syncing with a 3rd party sync provider you may be able to re-establish syncing with them to recover your data:

    Sync your 1Password data

Or if you made a backup recently you may be able to recover from that:

    1Password backups

Going forward I'd highly recommend using a 1Password account to avoid such issues in the future:

What are the benefits of a 1Password membership?
