Are the Mac App Store and direct download versions of 1Password compatible with each other?

I have users that previously purchased 1Password directly from Agile Bits, and new users that are now using the Mac App Store versions. There appears to be compatibility issues between these different versions. For example, the MAS version users are only able to access vaults in "read-only" mode. Are the two versions of 1Password compatible with each other?

    Hey @soperry,

They should be compatible, are you sharing the vaults that are showing up as read-only? If so how are you syncing them?

Also as a troubleshooting step, you can switch to the version of 1Password from the AgileBits website.

    Cheers,

  • @soperry,

The Mac App Store version's purchase can be used as a "license" for the AgileBits Web Store version. The opposite is not true. So If they've previously purchased the AgileBits Web Store version, they're going to need to stick with that unless they're compelled to buy it again from the Mac App Store.

Unfortunately the Mac App Store doesn't allow for external licensing systems, which is why this works the way it does.
