By any chance are you using a version of iOS on your iPad earlier than iOS 10.2.1? We've had some reports recently of customers with the recent 1Password 6.5.3 on earlier versions of iOS having problems entering master passwords longer than a certain length.
If that's the case, please ensure you update to iOS 10.2.1. To do so, please open the Settings app on your iPad and then tap on General > Software Update.
