I'm trying to move my 2FA to 1Password, and the QR code for one of my accounts keeps crashing 1Password (iOS, iPhone) as soon as it scans the image.

  • Good morning @adamncsu82. Thanks for taking the time to write in here. I'm sorry to hear about the crashes you're running into. If you could send me a Diagnostic Report from your iPhone it should help me find your crashes:

    Sending Diagnostics Reports (iOS)

Attach the Diagnostics Report(s) to an email message addressed to support+forum@agilebits.com.

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report(s) in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report(s) in our inbox.

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here so we can track down the report(s) and ensure that this issue is dealt with quickly. :)

    Thanks very much!

I've resolved the issue. The QR code being scanned was not a 2FA code. It would be nice if the app would notify the user that the QR code is not recognized, instead of just crashing.

You can reproduce this by scanning any non-2FA QR code.

  • Thanks for the update @adamncsu82. Agreed, that would be much better. ;) I just tried scanning the QR code from my Emergency Kit, which is not a TOTP QR code, and the result I got was a message saying "Unsupported QR Code" instead of a crash.

Are you able to reproduce this issue (the crash) with other non-TOTP QR codes, or is it just the one you tried scanning here?

Oh, I just tried the first one I found, which was from wikipedia:

That one caused a crash for me.

  • Thanks! That caused the crash for me as well. :)

I'll file a bug for our developers so hopefully they can track this down and fix it.
