Is it safe to get rid of old backups on the Mac?

I have 112 backups in ~/Library/Containers/2.../Data/Library/Backups. They total 23 MB and date back to January 2015. Is it safe to get rid of some of the older ones?

    @learning_1pw,

    Its probably ok to prune some of the older ones. I would certainly keep the recent ones as the data in them will be more temporally relative for restoration purposes.
