Got the error msg, so downloaded from your site and restarted, but no change. Help!
Can open with Master password, but says read only, click here to buy. Can't get into any of my accounts. Can't find version. Have Mac OS Sierra. Sync type???

@pbruflat: Where did you purchase 1Password? Please check your records, as you'll have received an email receipt. This is important because if you install from the wrong place, it won't be able to verify it. For example, you won't have a license from the AgileBits Store if you purchased from the Mac App Store. You said you downloaded from our site, but only the Mac App Store version says "Read Only", so I think you may be mistaken. Let me know what you find!
