Hi,
Could I use iPad to sign up for Family account and follow up with iMac and Windows computers later?

Do you see any issue with starting on iOS device? Your videos (great explanation, I know what to expect) always use Mac or Windows computer to initially setup an account.

Reason - I would like to create Family account, invite other Family members and set up everything before I get home where my iMac is. I'm longtime standalone version user, and now my family is finally interested, but I would like to setup everything while on a visit, and my iMac is not here.

Thanks

  • Hi @Fairgame,

Good question. You can certainly set up your account from iOS.

The one thing I would caution you about is that the Emergency Kit and Secret Key are not as overt in the setup process as they are when setting up from a computer. I'd recommend printing your Emergency Kit, if you have an AirPrint printer handy, and storing it somewhere safe. If you cannot do that, you can store it digitally (again, somewhere safe -- encrypted), but it will not have your Master Password on it. This means remembering your Master Password is that much more critical. iOS makes it easy to forget if you enable Touch ID. :)

Also do not erase 1Password from your iOS device until you're able to get set up on another device. The device will remember your Secret Key and can be used to recover it if your Emergency Kit is not available. But if you remove 1Password from the device, that'll all go away.

    Ben
