Am I right that I cannot sync my primary vault via Dropbox and a second one via WiFi on iOS?

Just want to set up a workflow for kind of «1 vault for local folder sharing» and «1 vault for syncing out in the cloud» using Dropbox. Doesn't work on iOS and OS X Setup, right?

  • Hi @truni,

Thanks for taking the time to write in.

If by "local folder sharing" you mean Folder Sync, then you are correct: this does not work on iOS. iOS does not have an exposed file system like macOS does, and as such it isn't possible to use Folder Sync there.

You can sync a vault to Dropbox, though:

I hope that helps. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.

Thank Ben – I want to enable this kind of syncing:

    Mac OS X:

    • primary vault: dropbox sync
    • secondary vault: folder sync (local), enabled wlan server for mobile sync

    iOS iPhone:

    • primary vault: dropbox sync
    • secondary vault: wifi-sync (only if 1Password is launched on both machines)

Don't want to move my secondary vault to the cloud for now...

  • In order for WLAN to sync any vaults it must also sync the Primary vault, so as it stands your proposed setup would not be possible.

If you aren't comfortable with the level of security provided by Dropbox for this you may want to check out our 1Password.com service. You can read more about the security of that here:
