Cannot find secret key
I have been using 1password on my iPhone and iPad for a number of years
it was purchased via the App Store
I recently changed my iPhone and when I tried to sign into 1password on my new phone . it requires a secret key.
I followed the instructions given and accessed 1password on my iPad where i can still see my data
to retrieve my secret key I went into settings > 1password accounts > only to find it again asks me to sign into my account and again I need a secret key
Going around in circles
can you help please
thanks
phil

Hi Phil ( @ivorberry ),
Thanks for taking the time to write in. We have a guide which may be helpful available here:
If you can't find your Secret Key or Setup Code
This will walk you through the possible locations you might find your Secret Key.
I hope that helps!

Again I go around in circles . To be clear I have seen this link and read it . Apologies is I miss something but I select IOS from this link and go settings > 1password accounts. this does not display any accounts . It says sign in to your 1 password account and again I need a secret key.. which I don't have
To clarify . I bought the app and I thought that was all I had to do . Do I have also to setup some sort of 1password account ? I assumed by buying the app I had an account0 -

Ah. That is where you're getting tripped up then. That is not correct. Buying the app allows you to use the app "standalone" (sans-account). It does not include an account. With this option your data is stored only on your device, by default. You can set it up to sync with 3rd party services such as iCloud or Dropbox. This is considered a more advanced option. When you buy 1Password standalone you're purchasing one version of the app, for one platform, for one person (e.x. 1Password 6 for iOS).
What you probably want is a 1Password.com account which includes the 1Password service. With this your data is tied to your account and you can access it from any compatible device using the latest version of 1Password, or our 1Password.com web interface. It also gives you the ability to (optionally) share some items with family members (via 1Password Families: https://1password.com/families/ ).
You can read more about the benefits of an account vs a standalone purchase here:
What are the benefits of a 1Password membership?
If you do decide to sign up for an account you can find instructions on migrating from your current setup here:
Move your existing 1Password data to a 1Password account
