Multiple Vaults with different Master Passwords

I am trying out 1Password before I move from another password manager but I am confused about some behavior.

I have my primary vault with my master password synced through dropbox
I have my wifes vault with her different master password synced through her dropbox (shared with my Dropbox so I have access)

Everything works fine so far where I can see and add things to her vault (our shared one) and I have my vault separate.

But my confusion is why do I never get asked for her vaults password to unlock it (except when I first added it) and only mine when I unlock my computer or due to inactivity?

1Password Version: 6.7.1

OS Version: 10.12.4
Sync Type: Dropbox

  • @jason_c,

This is intentional behavior. Your primary vault holds onto access keys to the secondary vault at the time when you supply its password. It does this so that your single master password provides access to all of the other vaults you add without any additional interaction.
