How to make a 1Password login for airline

Hmmm, I admit I guess I don't understand how to create a 1Password Login on iOS. I have 1Password both on my computer and on my iPhone 6s. I have a login on my computer for Southwest Airlines and if I click on the login, either from 1Password, the Application, or from the 1Password Mini, it loads the appropriate page, enters my username and password and logs me in.

But today I tried to do the same thing on iOS, and it certainly logs me on to Southwest.com but it just sits there with the username and password screens blank.

The URLs are different between the login on my computer and the one on the mobile device and therein likely sits the problem. But what is it that tells 1Password EVER to not only load the login page but to enter the credentials as well???? As I tried to make this login on my iPhone, as I got several letters into calling it South... 1Password put up a login with a picture of the plane tale and completed the southwest for me. Then it showed me a place to enter my username and password. I entered it all, then I clicked on the URL link and it went to the site and just sat there with nothing entered. I entered all the info manually and that worked but that defeats most of the purpose of having 1Password.

So what am I missing??? How do I make a useable login for Southwest Airlines on my iPhone??? I have other logins that I made eons ago that work fine but this is the first time in quite a while I've tried to make a new one.

What am I missing???

thanks... bob

  • Hi Bob ( @diitto ),

Thanks for taking the time to write in. I'm sorry to hear about the difficulty filling your Southwest credntials on iOS. Have you tried using the 1Password extension in Safari? If not I'd recommend giving that a try:

Use the 1Password extension to fill in Safari and apps on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - 1Password Support

I just tested this on my iPhone and it worked with Southwest for me.

Please let us know how it turns out.

Hmmm. Did just what you said, went to the "More" screen and I see a list of 9 items (Messages, Mail, Reminders, Add to Notes, Gmail, Twitter, Facebook, Save PDF to iBooks and Chrome) but NO 1Password??? And I clearly have the app on the phone. I use it all the time. Must be some setting within 1Password that is not set right. Any idea why 1Password is NOT on my list connected to Safari??? Not sure what version I have (how do I look??) but I just checked apps and it is NOT asking to update 1Password. Thoughts???

  • Bob,

You're looking at the top line of color icons. 1Password is under the "More" button in the bottom line of gray icons.

Yep, you are correct. Found the lower "More" button next to the gray icons, clicked it and it shows a page titled "Activities". 1Password is at the very top of that list and is selected to be "on". So I clicked "Done". Next I went to a test page like Amazon, asked for the login page for Amazon, clicked on the Share icon and 1Password shows up as the first icon in that second row of gray icons. I click on that and it launches 1Password and when it opens it is showing me a page that at the top says "Log in Using" and then an icon below called "New Login" and below that text that says "create a Login for "www.amazon.com". Now I did NOT put real credentials in because I am not really wanting to do this but if I did, and renamed that "New Login" to say be called Amazon, I could then within Safari, just click that Share icon, click on 1Password and from any webpage, select my Amazon Login and it would go to that page and log me in??? Correct??? Pretty much like I do on my main computer with 1Password Mini???

Glad to hear you were able to find the correct option.

    Yes and no. :)

First, if you already have login item for Amazon it should have shown up in that list. Since it did not your Amazon login item may not be set up correctly, and it may be worth saving a new one (and deleting the old one).

The 1Password extension in Safari will only show login items that match the page you are currently viewing. It doesn't offer "Go & Fill" like the desktop application. So you'd need to first navigate to the website's login page that you want to fill and then invoke 1Password via the share sheet to fill your credentials.

I hope that helps. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.

    Ben
