Getting system timeout errors each time I use auto-fill

I get an error dialog about 45-60 seconds after using auto-fill to log in. Even though the auto-fill already worked.

@billsaysthis: Unfortunately without some basic information it's hard to say what might be going wrong. What is the error you're receiving? If it's simpler, take a screenshot. To include it in your reply, simply click the document button in the top of the comment field, and select the file you wish to share:

    Here is the screen capture...

  • Hi @billsaysthis

    I'm sorry about the difficulty.

That error message is referring to the auto-submit script which is installed by the Mac App Store version of 1Password. It's a very simple script which simulates pressing the 'Enter' key after the 1Password extension fills your login information on a website.

You can try switching to the download of 1Password from our website, instead of the one from the Mac App Store:

How to switch to the version of 1Password from the AgileBits website

This version does not use that script.

Alternatively you can try deleting the auto-submit script to see if that solves the problem. Even without that script, 1Password should still be able to automatically submit login forms on many (if not all) of the sites where you have logins. Here are the steps to remove that script:

    1. Close all browsers and 1Password.
    2. In the Finder, go to the following folder: ~/Library/Application Scripts/2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper
    3. Delete the 1Password_Autosubmit.scpt file.
    4. Reboot your Mac.

Does that help? Let us know how it goes and if you have any questions about that. Thanks! :)

    Ben

Removing the script stopped the error but I lost auto-submit unless I reinstall it. I don't understand, this has worked fine for years and all of a sudden this problem kicked up. What changed in 1P?

Nothing has changed with how this works in 1Password for literally years, but if the file or its permissions become damaged it can cause this issue. Glad to hear that helped!
