Strange behavior with 1Password AND OS-X AND Opera

I have 2 computers running Windows 10 and OS-X. 1Password doesn't work with Opera with my MacBook Air, but strangely enough it DOES work on my Macbook Air on with Firefox and Chrome. On my MS Surface Pro with Windows 10, 1Password works great with Opera. Opera is my favorite browser mainly because I like the way all my main links are displayed on the desktop. I have all the latest software (Opera, Windows 10 and OS-X) installed on my devices. I've tried all the trouble shooting procedures from the help section in 1Password. I'm wondering if deleted Opera from my MacBook Air and then reinstalled it if this would correct the problem. I would have done that step already except that I don't want to loss all my Opera favorites if at all possible.

However, if I thought that might fix this problem, I would do it in a NY Minute. So, the big question is "Does 1Password work with OS-X AND Opera? I know it works with Firefox and Chrome.

    Hi @Starflyer,

If you've already followed the steps detailed on our support page If you see “1Password can’t save or fill” when you open your browser and odds are you have if its working in Chrome then the likely cause for your troubles is the actual Opera application bundle. We've discovered that Opera's updater mechanism on the Mac ruins the code signature of the application bundle and 1Password does check this to make sure what is claiming to be a browser with our extension installed is legitimate. Thankfully deleting the Opera application bundle from the /Applications/ folder and downloading a fresh copy will definitely not harm your Opera profile unless you use an app cleaner. So avoid any use of an app cleaner and you'll be fine

If a freshly downloaded copy of Opera doesn't resolve the issue please do post back here and we'll see how best to proceed.

Well, deleting my Opera browser and then reinstalling it didn't help a bit. I CAN'T log on here via Opera. When I try to sign in, it says my password is wrong. I've typed it several times with the same result. So I'm on here via my Firefox browser that DID accept my 1PW password. I'm tried of dicking around trying to make 1Password play fair with Opera. So I guess I'll just have to give up on Opera and use FireFox with my OS-X Macbook Air. Maybe someday Opera will fix this bug. I still don't get why Opera works like a charm with Windows 10.

    Greetings @Starflyer,

Your second post makes me now believe I misunderstood the issue you were trying to communicate. Most people contacting us at the moment are having issues getting the extension to communicate with the 1Password application running on their computer but unlocking 1Password wouldn't be affected by the browser selection if it is 1Password mini we're talking about.

Are you having trouble with the 1Password Browser Extension in Opera and it connecting to 1Password for Mac or are you having trouble logging into a 1Password account when visiting https://my.1password.com specifically when using Opera?

When I click on the link in the message you sent, it opens in Opera (as I write this, I don't remember if Opera is my default browser.) I think I changed it to FireFox. Regardless, I can't sign in to reply to this message because it says either my user name or password is invalid. So I copied the link that took me here in Opera and pasted it into Firefox where it popup and let me write this post WITHOUT signing in to 1Password.

I'm no techie, but I think my trouble is with the browser extension. When in Opera, trying to download/update the browser extension, it doesn't download and then I get your trouble shooting guide which doesn't work for Opera as well.

To recap, 1Password would great with Firefox and strangely enough, it works fine on my MS Surface Pro 4 running Windows10. Would much rather have ti work on my MacBook with Opera, but I'm resigned to using it with Firefox as I'm wasting too much time trying to make it work with Opera.

    Hi @Starflyer,

There seems to be some confusion going on and until we've cleared it up it will be tough to help.

The link I posted was to the login page for people who have a 1Password account. These forums though are a completely separate entity and have no link to a 1Password account. Your username and password won't work here and you certainly shouldn't be creating an account in our public support forums using the same password.

Lastly there is the 1Password Browser Extension. While it is an integral part of 1Password it is quite separate from both the web interface for 1Password accounts and our public support forums.

We need to learn what you're having trouble with and if there are multiple issues solve them one at a time. 1Password does work with Opera so whatever is not working can undoubtedly be fixed. We just need to understand what you're having problems with.

I've gone through all of the below steps without getting 1Password to work on my MBA with the latest OS-X software. Also, Opera and 1Password have the latest software.

When I load Opera, I see the Mini icon for 1Password, but clicking on it does nothing. I can send the diagnostics to you again if needed.

As already noted, 1Password work fine with FireFox and Chrome.

    Hi @Starflyer,

I can send the diagnostics to you again if needed.

We'd appreciate if can do that, especially since I'm not finding any email with diagnostics that you've recently sent us. Instructions are under Get more help in:

If you see “1Password can’t save or fill” when you open your browser

Like you can see in the last image in your latest comment. :)

You'll receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a support ticket ID. If you post that ticket ID here we'll be able to track down your email and help you get this issue resolved more quickly.

    Thanks in advance!

Not sure if this is the file you want or even have access to. I can't send this file with Opera open as it asks me for my 1Password sign-in and PW. When I enter that data, it pops up text that says either my password log-in are incorrect. So I'm send this with Firefox opened to your blog.

I'm not a techie, but I'm wondering if my Opera browser is tied to some other log-in data since I CAN sign-in via FireFox using the same data that your blog won't accept if I'm using Opera.
