Still no trash on iOS?

Dear all,

I am moving an all-iOS setup and was shocked to discover that there still seems to be no trash on iOS… :ohnoes:

Now that I no longer have a Mac to toy around with, what is the recommended procedure for me to purge my 1Password trash? Are items that are placed there deleted after a certain amount of time or do they merely accumulate, stuffing my Teams account and my apps' databases, like so many mementos of my purple past?

I have searched around the forums and there seem to be many recent replies from AgileBits about there just being no access to the trash on iOS, but that only answers a third of the question. In the absence of this feature, what are we to do, and why has it not yet been implemented —
I assume there is a good reason, since it would be ridiculous to hold off on it for mere reasons of spite or entertainment? :|

@Deleted User: We've definitely had some requests over the years for Trash in 1Password for iOS, but they've been few and far between. Given that there are much more popular requests and many other areas that we can improve which will benefit everyone, we choose to focus on those since they will do more good for a greater number of people. I think it would be nice to add that and some other things in the future though as iOS becomes more powerful and people do more work there. I think it's more likely that we'll add the ability to go digging around in the Trash and/or dump it to the 1Password.com web app, but given that most 1Password items take up mere kilobytes of data I can't say when we might do that. Thanks for letting us know this is a feature you'd like us to add! :)

Hello, Brenty, and thank you for chiming in! :)

Just to make sure I understand properly, there is absolutely no way of actually deleting passwords, logins, notes, and outdated confidential information stored in 1Password unless one has a Mac or Windows machine? Nothing to be done at all on iOS or the 1Password.com web application? Furthermore, this is considered a low priority feature? :'(

Pardon me, this is nothing personal, of course. It just seems so wildly insane that I need to confirm…

@Deleted User: You're welcome. I'm sorry I don't have better news for you on this.

If you mean emptying the Trash, then no, this isn't possible using 1Password.com, 1Password for iOS, or 1Password for Android. But when you say "actually deleting", that sounds like you might also want to remove item history as well. That's another matter entirely, and something we're considering for 1Password.com as well.

So, no, this isn't something I can offer you now, as it does not exist. I've shared your wishes and feedback with the team, so we'll absolutely take this into consideration as we continue to develop 1Password though. Thanks for taking the time to let us know how important this is to you!

You can empty the trash with the web interface, though?

@pervel: Ah, you're absolutely right. I was conflating emptying the whole thing with deleting individual items there. Thank you for correcting me!

@Deleted User: My mistake. pervel is correct that you can empty the Trash in the web interface. Just be aware that this only works for individual vaults, not in the All Vaults view.
