How to get primary account on ipad

I have a team account on my mac it has a Primary account (with my private stuff) along with the Team vault.
My iPhone has 1Password with only my Primary account (it syncs through I cloud) .. works great.
I just installed on a new iPad the 1Password app and it only contains the team vault and not my Primary vault.
I need my Primary vault: The iPad app says I can add a Standalone vault called Primary but it says 'This vault will not sync'.
What did I do wrong? and how can I get my iPad to work like my iPhone? I would prefer that both my team and Primary appear as they do on my desktop ... but if I can only have one then I need my Primary on the new iPad (like my iPone)

'This vault will not sync'.

That phrasing is, perhaps, a little strongly worded. A more accurate description would be 'This vault will not sync via 1Password.com' or 'This vault will not sync by default'.

You can create a Primary vault on your iPad and then sync it with your other devices:
