Unable to log in to Avis.ca with 1Password

So I'm trying to get back in to the flow of how 1Password works after coming back from another password manager, and I don't think it's anything I'm doing wrong in this case.

I'm attempting to log in to avis.ca (going to the main page and clicking on 'Login' at the time). There is a capcha which I select, then click on the browser extension icon and select the login. After clicking it, the page reloads (after filling in some details) and states that "We apologize, we cannot login your profile at this time. Please call 1-800-230-4898 for more assistance.".

At first I thought maybe the username or password was wrong (well, the password seeing as I can see the username is correct between the time it autofills and when the page submits). If I copy the username/password manually and paste them in I'm able to log in just fine.

Please help!

Hey, @xero939. Thanks for your post. It sounds like maybe autosubmit might be causing an issue with this site. Could you try disabling autosubmit and see if that helps? If it doesn't, try filling and then clicking into each field and pressing a single key and then deleting the character it inserts and then submit the form.

Let us know how that goes. It might be that we're not properly tickling some Javascript the page uses for validations, so knowing more about how it behaves will be helpful.

@jxpx777 That did the trick! Is there any way to 1) figure out what is being triggered that's not letting it autosubmit? and 2) is it possible from the user's end to tweak 1Password to allow it to work properly?

    Thanks for your help!

@xero939 Without a valid account, it's hard to know what's causing the validation to fail. Can you let me know specifically what worked? What it just disabling autosubmit or did you have to do the type-and-delete dance I mentioned?

Autosubmit simulates you pressing the return key in the password field. Out of curiosity, if you keep autosubmit disabled and put focus in the password field and press return, does it give you the same errors? I have a site I have to use fairly often that does not allow submitting with the return key at all. I have to click a button and it looks like an error if I press return myself or let 1Password do it:

We used to have a fallback approach that used Javascript and some page heuristics to try to decide which element 1Password should attempt to click on. It was notoriously unreliable; the number of sites that fail with 1Password trying to click on things like this dwarfs the number that don't allow you to submit with the keyboard. Not only that, but soon Chrome (and I suspect other browsers) will stop allowing synthesized events to trigger the default action for elements like links, so even if we wanted to try that going forward, the browsers are telling us it's not in the cards. :)

I hope that make sense. Let us know what you find about these additional details though as it could still mean there is some work for us to do. :)

@jxpx777 Ahhh that makes a lot of sense! I just tried what you said (letting it autofill without submitting) and pressed enter and I received the same error.

At least I know what the issue is. I believe my workflow when using LastPass was it autofilled and I clicked on any buttons I needed to log in, so I'll just leave autosubmit off on 1Password and click manually like I had been doing in the past!

Thank you for helping me out!

You can actually have the best of both worlds. If you edit the item, you should see a Submit attribute. Here's what it looks like in 1Password for Mac:

If you set this to Never, you can keep autosubmit enabled at the application level but prevent the attempt to submit on just Avis.

    I hope that helps!
