best practice for the "website" field?

I'm just curious if there is a best practice around what to enter into the website field? Does it matter if we enter http:// or https://? What is the most appropriate value for the website field for a Login in 1Password:

    Hi @btownguy,

    Great question!

    Most well designed websites will automatically redirect from the unsecure HTTP protocol to the more secure HTTPS protocol when accessing a login page. That said, this is not universally true, and you're asking about best practices, so for that I'd recommend always specifying HTTPS. If you do not specify a protocol 1Password will assume HTTPS, but again, as a best practice, it doesn't hurt to be explicit.
