iPhone 6s IOS 10.3.3 Sync Error
Hi,
Ive been using 1password WLAN Sync on Macbook Pro Sierra 10.12.5 and iPhone IOS 10.3.3 for over 2 years already. Unfortunately the WLAN Sync stopped working all of a sudden..... I did test it on different WLAN networks and can not make it work. Deleted 1password on iPhone reinstalled it. Didnt update anything on Macbook or iPhone.
Ive run into a message in this forum which mentions Troubleshooting Utility but havent been able to see that message (an error message is displayed with permissions;)
Can you please help accordingly ?
1Password Version: 6.8 680014
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: Sieera 10.12.5
Sync Type: WLAN Sync

Thanks for taking the time to write in. You can find our guide on troubleshooting WLAN Sync here:
If you're having trouble using the WLAN server
I hope that helps. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask. Thanks.

Thanks Ben but this article did not help me. Ive been using 1password for two years and loved it so far.
However I think it is really not pleasant for a user to see the following statement from Agilebits -> "If you’ve tried everything in the article and are still unable to connect, switch to a more reliable sync method."
Why would I have to switch to a more "reliable" method ? I think the most reliable method is WLAN since in this era Cybersecurity is the main concern and every other company gets compromised.
I am really disappointed that this should be something not very hard for software coders to debug and fix. In the end WLAN or Bluetooth or USB is just an interface and some users may want to use a closed loop interface as such.

What happens when you get to this step of the guide?

Obviously not, since it isn't working. ;)

There are a lot of variables when it comes to syncing over a home or business network that can interfere with 1Password's sync attempts. We're not in a position to troubleshoot those variables beyond what is offered in the guide. The best way to sync your 1Password data is with a 1Password membership.

Sad to see that 1password team makes fun of customer feedback.
"Obviously not, since it isn't working. ;)" ---> Reliability means security to me. Just because it is not working does not mean that it is not reliable. At least to me...
As an end user I wanted to provide feedback and positive criticism that WLAN Server feature of 1password (which is provided by 1password software from day 1) is something that Ive been using for over 2 years and which stopped working all of a sudden without any changes to the environment at all.
Changed phone (iOS to Android) , changed network, changed to ad hoc WIFI etc. I am a network engineer with over 15 years experience and clearly see from Network Traffic output (Wireshark based) that this is an APP or OS related issue. Id have preferred someone to ask me some output.
As I see and understand I am just being told in a very clear way to stop the way (WLAN server) Ive been using 1password and instead start using it in another way. Ok then....

Sad to see that 1password team makes fun of customer feedback.
It wasn't my intention to make fun. Customers have been asking us for a long time to make syncing and sharing easier. Based on those demands we created 1Password.com membership accounts. A membership greatly simplifies the process. We provide the sync service as well as the apps as part of this subscription. The ability to easily sync, and also the ability share passwords and other important data among family and team members (if desired) has been immensely popular with our 1Password.com subscription customers.
Just because it is not working does not mean that it is not reliable. At least to me...
We have different definitions of the word, then.
I'm sorry we're not able to troubleshoot the WLAN server further. We have a number of customers that are happily using it, and are happy to continue offering it as an advanced option, however we cannot troubleshoot beyond what is available in the guide.
If security is your chief concern (which is a very valid chief concern) I'd recommend taking a look at our 1Password Security Design White Paper for the 1Password membership service.
