I see the error "Attempted to downgrade extension" when installing in Opera - how do I fix this?

Worked until 2 days ago. Now, it isn't working in the browser, and when I attempt to download the extension, I get this error "Attempted to downgrade extension". Please advise.

    Hey @joneswim,

Welcome to the Forum. Let's see if we can get things back working.

This could be caused by trying to install one of our 1Password extensions over another one. We have two versions of the 1Password extension for Opera: the "Stable" version which is the one that most people use and the "Beta" version which has cutting edge improvements but isn't as well tested.

The "Attempted to downgrade extension" error can occur if you install the Beta extension and then try to install the Stable version. Perhaps this is what's happening here.

To check if you have the 1Password extension installed already please:

    1. Open Opera.
    2. Copy and paste the following into the Opera web address bar and hit Return:

      opera://extensions

    3. This should show you the list of extensions that are installed. If you already have 1Password installed it you should see it near the top of the list. If it is the Stable it will have the name "1Password: Password Manager and Secure Wallet" and if it's the Beta, it will be called "1Password Beta".

    4. You can uninstall it by clicking the X on the right-hand side.
    5. Then go to the extension installation web page again to try installing it again.

Hopefully that works for you - do let us know.

It sounded like you were encountering an issue with the extension which prompted you to try re-installing. If you still need further assistance don't hesitate to ask.

    Best regards,
    Matthew
