First Time Registering with 1Password, Issue with Secret Key

While completing my registration with 1password I was shown my secret key but told not to worry about writing it down because it will be provided in the emergency kit. I complete the registration and receive my welcome e-mail and when I click on the link to my sign-in address the first thing it wants is my secret key!! I memorized the master password like it told me but not the secret key! what gives??
