Unable to install 1Password

I am using 1Password on multiple devices for a couple of years now. Currently I have a problem with 1Password on my iPad Pro:

1) A couple of days ago I tried to use 1Password in Safari on my iPad Pro. I was surprised that the symbol was gone. Back then I was using a Beta of iOS 11 and I thought that this might cause problems. Since I use the iPad pretty seldom I decides to wait and retry with the official release of iOS 11.

2) After installing iOS 11 I tried to open 1Password on the iPad again. I could not find the App in the folder I used to have it. I could not open the App from Safari. Then I looked for the App in the App Store to see that it was still on my device.

3) I deleted the 1Password App through the settings -> iPad Storage (I am not sure if this section is called this in English. Since I am using iOS in German I have to guess, but I am sure you know what I mean)

4) I tried to reinstall the 1Password App from the App Store. Now at least it showed me the download symbol. The problem was that I can't press on the symbol and start the download. No error is mentioned, just nothing is happening.

5) I tried other Apps to ensure that the problem was not a general one. I am able to download any other App that I tried.

6) Since the official first solution for any problems in the Apple support is to reinstall the device. I deleted the iPad and got a backup.

7) I still have the same problem as described in 4). I still am able to download anything but 1Password.

Anybody has a solution? I never had a problem like this with any app on any device.

Thank you.

  • Hi David

Did you enable parental controls on your iPad? Perhaps accidentally?

Use parental controls on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

1Password is currently rated 17+, so parental controls may prevent it from being installed.

    Thanks,

    Ben

  • Hi Ben, you are absolutely right! I could't try it on my iPad (I just reinstalled it again, should have waited for the answer!) but I tried it on my iPhone with the same result.

Thank you I was going nuts and would have never guessed it. I did enable parental control since I have kids. I thought I would always have to put in my parental code if there was an issue with anything not suitable for kids under 6.

Apple really screwed this one up...

    Again thank you!

    David

  • You’re very welcome David. :)
