iOS 1Password TouchID interaction

I have TouchID enabled in the 1Password app. When I start 1Password on my iOS devices, sometimes it presents me with that little button to say that I want to use TouchID. This is very annoying. I ALWAYS want to use TouchID if it is enabled. Why would I want to have a choice between entering a password and using my TouchID if it is enabled? This is a usability request to reduce the number of button presses.

So, my feature request is that if I have TouchID enabled in 1Password on an iOS device, then when I start 1Password, I want to immediately use the TouchID feature. I don't want to have to press a button first and then use the TouchID.

@vcochrane: Can you be more specific? If it's simpler, take a screenshot of this. To include it in your reply, simply click the document button in the top of the comment field, and select the file you wish to share:

Just be sure not to post anything sensitive, as this is a public forum. Thanks in advance!

I'm afraid I'm not sure how to answer your question without more information, as what you're describing is how 1Password works here.

The only thing I can think of is that your Touch ID seething were migrated badly in iOS 11. You could try installing a fresh copy of 1Password (backup your local vault data first though), but I'd rather hear back from you with more details first.

@brenty This is what I'm talking about when the app first starts up,

You can see that I have a choice of either entering a password or pressing the "Use TouchID" button. I shouldn't have to select my authentication method since I have TouchID enabled, I want to be able to just press the iPhone TouchID button after I start the app. This is actually how the app behaves once it is running and it screen locks. So I would like consistent authentication behavior so that startup is the same as unlock.

@vcochrane: Yeah that's working as designed, and expected since we want to be able to invoke Touch ID even if it's been dismissed/cancelled (common when switching apps, and especially on iPad with Slide Over/Split View). That said, I have seen some reports of this happening more often on iOS 11. We're tracking some other issues there with Touch ID, so it may be related to what I mentioned above, even though that isn't exactly what I thought you were referring to.
