Android Oreo Autofill

Hi,

Auto fill with 1Password on Oreo seems to act a bit strange. Example I had an Airbnb login in my vault, but 1Password could not find it, but once I had logged in it offered to save it with the exact same name as the login I already had in my account. Why is this?

  • Hi @PeterH28. Thanks for reaching out!

In order to match a Login with an app or website, we match by URL, not by title. So in order to fill at or in the Airbnb app, your Login will need to have https://www.airbnb.com/ saved in the URL field. If 1Password isn't able to match the current app to something in your vault, it will save instead, and the new Login will be automatically linked to that app. Can you confirm you're using the official Airbnb app, and that you have the correct URL saved in the item?

@peri makes sense. Yes it was the official Airbnb app I had https://www.airbnb.co.uk in my URL field because being in the UK and all :)

I understand not all apps are going to control multiple domains but is there anything smart you can do to be a bit less domain dependant?

Ahaaaaa that makes sense at least. Sorry for the trouble there!

Indeed, it can definitely be confusing and inconvenient at times, but it's important that 1Password not offer to fill just anything anywhere. This protects against phishing attacks.

The good news is that as apps add support for OpenYOLO they will be able to ask 1Password for the information they need more specifically, so that you can choose fill or save. Cheers! :)
