When I to restore, 1Password says "Add backup"...then what?

I backed up my 1Password on one computer to a flash drive. On another computer (both Macs), I created a new vault, and clicked 'Restore'. A window 'Preferences' appears. Since my backup is on a flash drive, I clicked 'Find Backup'. A model window appears, allowing me to select the flash drive. The backup is in a directory ending in .pif, but the 'Add Backup' button is disabled. When I clicked on the directory, the subdirectories appear -- but the 'data.1pif' file is disabled!

How am I supposed to restore the backup?

Thanks,
Rick

  • @rcasey,

1pif isn't a backup format. You'll want to import that using the import command under the File menu.

Thanks Rudy; was not aware of that.

However, I cannot import because that menu item is disabled; how do I enable it?

  • @rcasey,

You'll want to switch to a specific vault to import to. Import to the "All Vaults" selection isn't possible.
