Thanks for getting in touch, @David-S!

The article you linked to is specifically referring to "autofilling", which 1Password doesn't do. We specifically designed 1Password to require an explicit action from you before filling. Our own Defender Against the Dark Arts, Mr. Goldberg, has thoroughly discussed how 1Password helps you securely fill details in your browser in the following blog post:

Hopefully the details shared in the above blog post will help clear things up. Let us know if you have any questions!

When I click on a 1Password entry, the program opens the link and fills in the data. Isn’t that “autofilling”? It does not work on every site, sometimes requiring me to copy and paste but not usually.

@David-S: Nope. You told 1Password to do that. "Autofill" is when you're in your web browser, you simply navigate to a web page, and the browser squirts your login credentials or personal information into a form there without you asking it to. And certainly if you're having trouble using 1Password at a website, let us know the URL so we can investigate. Cheers! :)
