Can't finish setting up sync with Dropbox on new iDevice
iPod Touch 6th Gen running iOS...hmm, there appears to be an update. I must be using the next to the latest version of 11.x.
Dropbox sync to my single vault is working fine on my old iPhone 5S but I can't finish setting up the sync on my new iPod. 1Password accepts my Dropbox email and password and goes to a screen that has "Sync With Dropbox" at the top. Below that it says "Account" followed by an 8 digit number. If I tap on "Account xxxxxxxx" it goes to a screen with "Dropbox (xxxxxxxx)" at the top for half a second, then jumps back to the previous screen. There is no Done anywhere to tap, just Cancel. If I tap on the blue "i" with a circle around it goes to a screen that says "User ID". Below that it says "Stop Using Account" in red letters. If I tap on THAT it asks me to confirm that I want to stop using my Dropbox account. If I tap Back it returns to the "Sync with Dropbox" screen. Again, there is no "Done" to tap, just "Cancel". Tapping Cancel takes me back to the screen where I select one of three sync options. If I tap the Dropbox option again there is no log-in form and I'm back in the screen with "Account xxxxxxxx" showing.
In short, it appears to connect to Dropbox and get an account number and then...nothing. No "Done" to tap as if it's stuck at some point and can't finish setting up the connection to my vault.
I have no idea what version of 1Password is installed, I only know that no updates show up in the App Store. Dropbox is of course up to date because you can't stop it from updating itself.
Note that this is not a major problem as I only use the iPod to play music. I sure would like to get it working just the same.

@Terry_Bowman: Thanks for reaching out. I’m sorry for the confusion! It sounds like you're just using a very old version of 1Password which can no longer connect to Dropbox (they've changed things this past year).
However, without some basic information it's hard to say for certain. Please tell me the exact OS and 1Password versions you're using, the exact steps you're taking, and what is (or is not) happening the way you expect so we can figure out the best plan of action:
Find your version
The more information you can give, the better. A screenshot would be great. To include it in your reply, simply click the document button in the top of the comment field, and select the file you wish to share:
Just be sure not to post anything sensitive, as this is a public forum. Thanks in advance! :)0 -
Thanks brenty. I updated iOs to 11.2.1 last night to eliminate that as a possible problem.
It turns out that I had installed an old version, 5.0.5. I never updated the copy in my iTunes app library so I deleted the old version from my iPod and downloaded 7.0.7 from the App Store on the iPod, that is, directly to the iPod and bypassing iTunes completely.
When I launch it I have two options: a blue button that says "Start My Trial" and below that it "Already using 1Password?" That second option has a grey background and when I tap on it nothing happens. I tried restarting the iPod but nothing changed.
So I'm further away from getting it setup than I was before. I took a look at my iPod with iMazing. Here are the files belonging to 1Password:
As you can see the most recent logs were created this morning when I took up the chase again. According to the most recently modified log I'm being denied free use of the app because I'm not grandfathered. Has this changed recently? I thought I could use multiple copies of the free app. :|

@Terry_Bowman - you should be able to use multiple copies of 1Password for iOS on multiple devices even if you haven't purchased the Pro features. There's a list of what purchasing the Pro features unlocks for you, but as you can see, Dropbox syncing isn't on that list. You should be able to choose an option besides 1password.com account (WLAN, Dropbox, iCloud).
I'd like you to delete 1Password from your iPod, restart the iPod, and then try re-downloading from the App Store. Make sure you go into your Purchased tab and download it from there, not straight off the main 1Password page. See if that allows you to choose Dropbox at the Welcome screen.

Followed your instructions to the letter twice. Verified the deletion of all files with iMazing both times after the restart. "Already using 1Password?" still has a gray background on the first launch and cannot be selected.
Here is the log file from the second attempt:

@Terry_Bowman: Yeah, that doesn't make sense to me either. Do you happen to have the Dropbox app installed? Is there anything else I should know?
I'd still really like to see screenshots of what you described above. The logs seem to indicate that you do not have any vaults setup in 1Password. Is that the case? If so, have you tried creating a new one?

I have a 2015 iMac running 10.11.6. DropBox is installed and up to date (as it's virtually impossible to prevent it from doing so automatically). 1Password is working perfectly on both my iMac (version 6.8.5 (685004)) and my iPhone 5S (version 7.0.4). The sync is working fine.
Here is what I see when I launch 1Password. Based on what it says in the log file this must be the "first launch" screen:
Note the gray background behind "Already using 1Password?". Tapping it does nothing.
To reiterate what I said in my first post: when I first installed 1P 5.0.5 by mistake the background was white, I could tap it, and enter my email and password for Dropbox but the setup process stalled before it was complete (see that first post for details). Now, having done a proper, clean install of the correct version of 1P, I'm stuck at this "first launch" screen.
I don't know if I'm still doing something wrong or there's a bug or something on the device is corrupted. Note that this is a new iPod and a full reset can be done as I don't have anything else installed on it yet.

I just reset the iPod to out of the box condition, wiped everything. Logged into Apple, connected to WiFi, downloaded 1P from the Purchased tab in the App Store. Same thing, doesn't work. :(

@Terry_Bowman: Sorry for not being clearer. I meant do you have the Dropbox app installed on your iOS device, since that's where you were running into trouble?

Ah, that's a header. Scroll down to get the options to sync from Dropbox, etc.

That shouldn't be necessary, but thanks for letting me know. Please try what I suggested above and tell me the result. :)

You nailed it. It scrolled. I'm in. 8-)
My apologies for being so slow. I've been stressed out by one small problem after another recently so my thinking hasn't been entirely clear. Some things are complex and obvious, others simple and opaque. I'll spare you the details. I'm reminded of the fact that my mom doesn't understand how to copy and paste even though she's worked with spreadsheets for years.
Thanks for all your help. I've done tech support before and I'm terrible at it. :|
Special thanks for Apple for making things so simple. :p

@Terry_Bowman Jumping back in here as brenty is away just now. I'm glad he was able to help you figure it out! And no worries about being "slow." Everyone sometimes misses something they come to think in retrospect should've been obvious. That's why we're here - to see if we can un-opaque it for you (er, I guess the word I'm searching for would be "clarify," LOL).
Some things are complex and obvious, others simple and opaque.
It's the ones that are both complex and opaque you really have to watch out for. Have a great week! :)
