iCloud sync: “Password is incorrect” alert on my new device

Hi there.

I use iCloud to sync my vault, and use 1Password on my Mac and my iPhone. Now I'm trying to activate it on my iPad, but when I launch the app and try to set it up, I get an error message saying that my password is incorrect.

I am 100% sure that I am using the correct Master Password, as I've logged out and back in both on my iPhone and on my Mac without any problems. However, on my iPad, the app says that it has found my vault stored on iCloud and throws me the error message when I type my master password.

I've had this problem for a while now, and finally decided to try to solve it. I poked around the forum and found people with similar problems, but nothing with this exact situation. I haven't tried changing the master password or the sync method, as I'm scared it may go wrong and I'll end up locked out of my account. Any chance you guys can help me figure this out?

Thanks!

@mvcmendes: Thanks for reaching out. I’m sorry for the confusion! That means that the 1Password data stored in that iCloud account requires a different Master Password than the one you're entering. That could be because you're physically entering the Master Password incorrectly, you are using a different iCloud account than on your other devices, or perhaps you weren't using iCloud to sync your 1Password data elsewhere at all and it's an older vault. Do you have all of your data on the Mac? Ca you verify the account you're syncing with there, if at all? Thanks in advance! :)

Hey, @brenty. Thanks for the reply.

I double-checked my iPhone and my Mac, and both are using iCloud sync. Also all three devices (Mac, iPhone and iPad) are logged in the same iCloud account. The werid thing is that I've never had another vault other than this one.

Also, I was able to use 1Password on my old iPad without a problem. It began when I got a new onde and tried to log in. I really can't think of a solution. I'm 100% sure that I'm typing in the right password, as this same password works as usual on the iPhone and the Mac.

Are you able to verify that iCloud is actually syncing 1Password data between these devices? For example if you add a new item on one does it appear on the other?

@Ben Hey, Ben. iCloud is actually syncing new passwords between my Mac and the iPhone. Whenever I register a new password on one of these devices, it appears properly on the other.

Okay, thanks for the update. Please give this a try:

Let us know how it turns out. :)
