my 1Password won't lock. I can just close it and click on it to open?

when i first open it after its been closed i just need to press on the lock symbol to open it. Then after that if i go out of it (by hitting the home button) and try and go back in it then asks me for my thumbprint. If i swipe the app closed and open it again i can just press the lock symbol to open it again. So essentially if I lose my phone anybody could access all my passwords.

Thanks for taking the time to write in.

It sounds like the 1Password > Settings > Security > Lock on Exit setting would help here. Please try toggling that ON and let us know how it turns out. :)
