Confused new user. iPhone not in sync with iMac

New user (family plan) with install yesterday on an iMac. Added a total of one password. Then today I installed on my iPhone and could not see the password. On the iMac, there were 4 items under All Items but only the initial 3 on the phone.

Thinking it might help to have a different vault, I added one named test on the iMac. At first it looked like it did not work but after logging out and back in again it was there. I copied the login to test. But on the iPhone it was not there.

Obviously both app versions are freshly installed.

Mac OS is 10.13.2, iOs is 11.2.2

What can I do?

@LarryHutchinson: Did you perhaps setup a different account on each device rather than signing into the same one? Or you may have setup a Primary (local) vault on one or more devices. If you select the rainbow "All Vaults" icon in each of the apps, which vaults do you see listed there? I suspect they're a bit different across your devices. Let me know what you find!

I did not do anything other than the default install on both devices. On the iPhone, I used the QR code on the printed emergency kit. Only after things were not syncing did I add a new vault, test, on the iMac.

One thing that may be important: When signing on via your web page, I got emails Verify 1Password Account, Hutchinson is ready to go!, and Your 1Password subscription is active (Hutchinson). But then when activating the app on the iMac, I got pretty much the same thing: Verify 1Password Account and Your account is ready to go. At the time, I thought it was odd that I had to reenter in the app the same material as I had already entered on the web.

The vaults I see in the iMac app and at the my.1password.com are Personal and test. On the iPhone they are Private and Shared.

The info in Accounts on the iPhone is all correct and the secret key is the same as printed. I have reviewed all the settings and do not see anything amiss.

Here's something interesting: The secret key shone on the 1Password Account in the mac app is different than that on the printed emergency kit.

OK, apparently I goofed while setting up the iMac app and had created a new trial account. I have now deleted that account.

I noticed this while trying to set up my iPad. I was surprised there was no QR reader in the iOS app and started typing in the secret code only to give up and use Notes to pass the code (not too secure) and then, when the code was not accepted, I noticed the code was not the same as the printed one.

Ah, that explains it. Thanks for the update! Glad you were able to work it out. Indeed, rather than signing up for a new account each time, using your account credentials to sign in and setup the app on each device makes things even easier. Cheers! :)
