Hello!
I use Mac, Iphone, Windows PC.
I want to buy standalone license.

I have a some questions:
1. Can i use 1Password on Mac, Iphone and PC at the same time (with ICloud sync)?
2. If one day my computers and phone breaks down and all I have left is a safe from the program. How can I regain the right to have a full license of your program?

1Password Version: current

    1. The stand-alone licence is per platform. That's one reason why the subscription may be better value.

    2. As far as I recall, once 1PW is set up, the licence is stored as part of your vault, so you are automatically licenced once you have restored your vault. You can also get the licence by email from AgileBits

    1. If I buy a standalone license through the MacApplestore - will i be able to get updates of my product version for free within one global version (e.g. buy 6 version of the program and get all 6 updates.n.n free)?

    2. After the global next version of the program is released. For example, 7. How much will I have to pay to upgrade from version 6?

    Hi @vakakulka

    In-version updates are included, yes, whereas upgrades (e.x. v6 -> v7) would typically be a separate purchase. Pricing isn’t normally announced until the new version itself is announced (we haven’t announced either v7 or pricing for it at this point).

    However, you mentioned you want to be able to use 1Password on a Windows PC. We do not currently have a standalone offering for Windows. Until v7 1Password for Windows is available by subscription only. Additionally CloudKit is not available on Windows, and so 1Password cannot sync with that platform via iCloud.

    Thanks.

    Will it be cheaper for owners of version 6 update to 7, than simply separate buying 7?

    And, would a free update be available to me inside one version(6-6.1.1. f.e.) if I bought the program from a AppStore?

    We haven’t announced any pricing options re: v7 yet.

    6 -> 6.x updates are included. 6 -> 7 is not.

    Thanks for the answers. I am very pleased that the team cares about future customers. Please tell me the last time that I do not understand.

    1. If I'm starting to use another MAC computer - can I download the full version of the program that I already paid for free from my AppleId from AppleStore?

    2. The person in this topis (higher) said that my local license would be stored in a safe file.
      And if I'm on a different MAC computer install 1Password from AppStore with another AppleId , and import my old safe file (from the program to which the standalone license was purchased) - will my program license be renewed on a new computer and I will be able to use the full functionality?

    For me, only the option with the purchase of a local Autonomous license is available.

    @vakakulka: Not, "free", but if you already purchased 1Password for Mac using that Apple ID, you can install that version from your purchase history there without having to pay for it a second time.

    That's how it works if you purchase a license for 1Password from the AgileBits Store. When purchasing from the App Store, there is no license; the purchase is tied to your Apple ID. You can use it on all of your Macs, provided you use the same Apple ID on them. I hope this helps. Be sure to let me know if you have any other questions! :)

    Thank you for the answers, they are very complete! I still have one more question, please.

    If I bought the 1Password standalone program license through the Apple store, and my computer was destroyed, and access to AppleID I completely lost and I only had the safe file.

    Can I on another MAC or Windows computer or in IOS app (in free trial version) to access my safe file and get my passwords back without purchasing the app again (without any payments)?

    @vakakulka - There's a couple of issues with that: your actual data, and licensing/cost. For the latter, anyone can download 1Password for Mac from us and use it for free for 30 days. That's the trial period on 1Password for Mac if you download it from our downloads page. So don't worry about that.

    The bigger issue is what happened to your 1Password data when your previous Mac was destroyed? Were you using 1Password only on that single Mac? If so, do you remember whether you were syncing your data via iCloud or Dropbox? If you were not, and if you do not have any backups of the data from the Mac that was destroyed, the you will not be able to recover the data because it no longer exists. This is why we recommend people use a 1Password.com account, or - if they're standalone users - to sync their data to other devices.

    If you DO have the data from the destroyed Mac, what format is it in? A 1Password backup? an Agile Keychain or OPVault? Exported .1pif file? Something else?

    @Lars
    I mean if my MAC destroyed, and i have .opvault file in backup storage.

    P.S. (Am i right that .opvault he has a reliable strong defense aes-256 or something like that, yes?)
    P.S.S. I also found some .1p4_zip files. Where can I read more about them?

    @vakakulka - OPVault is the current format for 1Password's sync keychains (for advanced sync). It's what you'll find if you choose Folder Sync or Dropbox, and yes, it can be opened directly in any other 1Password app on Mac or PC (using 1Password 4 for Windows). .1p4_zip files are the backup files created by 1Password for Mac's automatic backup feature for local data. The main difference between the two types of file is that an OPVault represents a single vault's contents, and can actually be opened directly in 1Password for Mac as a new vault (assuming you have the vault password for that OPVault), without any other steps. A .1pf_zip file is a backup of the ENTIRE 1Password setup you had in 1Password for Mac, including all vaults, and it can only be restored as a whole unit. That may be exactly what you want in certain cases, but it's important to understand that it's all-or-nothing with backups. Here's a little further reading:

    1. OPVault Design
    2. 1Password backups

    Hope that helps! :)

    If you’d like to use all of the features available in 1Password for iOS that would be a separate purchase, yes. With 1Password membership all of the latest versions of all of our apps are included, so you may want to look into that option.

    Sorry didn’t finish the text above. I do own a stand alone and by sinking with iCloud I am able to use it on my iPhone. However I am interested on getting a subscription, so I can use it on my pc laptop also. (I use my MacBook Pro currently).

    @applepie2020: No.

    iCloud will work to sync the data, but with the standalone version each app is a separate purchase for each platform. A 1Password.com membership, on the other hand, includes all of the apps along with automatic, no-setup sync for the data you store in your account. Much simpler on both fronts, along with many other benefits. Let us know if you have any questions. :)

    so the standalone license is only available through the mac app store. if you don’t want a subscription. You can use it on all of your Macs, provided you use the same Apple ID on them.

  • so the standalone license is only available through the mac app store

    No, the opposite. The Mac App Store is no longer selling standalone licenses for 1Password. They are only available from within the 1Password 7 for Mac app when downloaded from our website.

    if you don’t want a subscription. You can use it on all of your Macs, provided you use the same Apple ID on them.

    You can use 1Password on all of them, yes. Using the same Apple ID on all of them makes that process much easier, as the license will sync via iCloud Keychain. Anyone else using 1Password on those Macs needs to have their own license (or subscription).

    I hope that helps!

    Ben
