Restoring backup from old version of 1password
I have upgraded to ios11 and 1password no longer works. I found the very useful instructions about restoring to the new version from an itunes backup which worked - up to the point that I wanted to import the data. It is asking for my master password - at first I assumed that this was the secondary password I created for extra security. I only used it on one entry and have long since forgotten it. I've tried all the variations of what it might have been, but no luck. But today I saw a post on how to remember your master password - that said that it is the password you used to open the app. This I definitely do remember, but though I've tried it over and over it does not work. The post also said that it would provide a hint that you entered at the time if you tried 3 times, but this does not happen either. Please help!

Hi @Pah01753,
The Master Password for a backup is going to be the Master Password that was in use at the time the backup was created. 1Password does not go back through old backups when you change your Master Password and update them. I believe the Master Password hint only applies when unlocking 1Password, not when restoring a backup.
I hope that helps!

Sadly it doesn't! Can you confirm exactly what the Master Password is - ie is it (as on one of your posts) the password that I had to enter when I opened the old app? If so, I don't understand why it's not working, as I definitely remember it. Or is it the additional password that I created to provide more security, and which I had to use when I tried to get into a specific entry that I'd protected with it?

If this backup is from 1Password 3 for iOS the answer would be the latter: not the PIN code, but the longer password that was required for items marked as having ‘high’ security. Please see this guide for more info:
If you're using 1Password 3 on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
