Client-Server interaction
With 1Password X I am trying to understand the interaction between 1PX extension and 1Password.com...
When you are on a webpage and ask 1PX to fill in the username/password, does it....
- Check against its local database / cached copy, only communicating with the server when there are changes.
Or
- Check against the server and retrieve the encrypted info each time, albeit also keeping a cached copy.
Just trying to understand it. Thanks...

Hi, @occamsrazor! 1Password X behaves similarly to other clients. It maintains a local cache of your data and keeps a connection to the server to be notified of changes. When a notification happens, 1Password X performs a sync between the server and the local cache. Filling and other interactions use the local cache rather than making a request to the server each time. This allows you, for instance, to look up a password when your Chromebook doesn't have a Wi-Fi connection.
I hope that helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions.
