1Password, Chrome and Roaming profiles

We currently changed our computer scheme from Station logins to Roaming profiles on Windows 10. We currently use Google Chrome as our default web browser.

My question is, do we have to reinstall the (desktop required) chrome app to pair it on every machine when we log in the first time, or is there a way that we can set it up to sync when they log into the desktop program?

Users appdata is saved on the network that all stations have access too.

  • Hi @Brett_Fraser,

    Thanks for writing in.

As long as the path to the 1Password and the web browsers haven't changed, you do not need to reinstall anything.

    Thanks @MikeT

Just to clarify, that is to make sure that the location of the install is the same on one PC as the other for both Chrome and 1Password. As in the same file location?

Also with this, since we only have 7 stations that will be doing the roaming, will people have to do the security key each day or only when they sit down at a computer for the first time?

Yes, although Chrome is not vital to be in the same location. When you open 1Password, it should update the paths to itself in the registry to enables the Native Messaging support with 1Password extension. Chrome uses the path in the registry to connect to our 1Password process and once it does, the secure pairing is done in the background automatically.

Only the first time, the secret key will be stored within the user's 1Password encrypted database that's stored in %LOCALAPPDATA%\1Password\data.
