Reinstalled on new computer - locked out of editing now?
I paid 49.99 for "1Password - Password Manager and Secure Wallet, v5.3 (4+) " through the App Store in 2015. I've been using it since then on two macs and an iphone, syncing over icloud with no problem. I have version 6 installed on the macs.
I recently got a new computer at work, so I downloaded 1Password 6 and logged in and it was working just fine. I thought I was all set to keep using the software I previously paid for. Now (probably about 21 or 30 days later, not sure), it says my trial period is over and won't let me edit my data from my new computer anymore. It wants me to spend $65 for ________ (something, I can't tell what). I figured I probably need to input my license code, but when I click "add license" under preferences/license, it just takes me to a finder window with no instructions on what it wants me to select there.
Do I need to redownload from the App store?
I clicked the "how to add a license" info box and that just took me to the online faq page that had no information about adding a license.
All I see is "Buy a Subscription!" all over the place, along with prompts to pay $65 (is that the cost for a subscription? yikes!)
What the heck am I supposed to do here? My apple store receipt doesn't have a license number.
I love how 1password works for passwords, but you guys really need to do better in making it easier to understand as far as syncing/licenses/different types of memberships.
Thanks!
Susan

Hi there @BlueskySusan
Mac App Store purchases don't actually have an external license key. Your purchase is tied to the Apple ID you used to purchase it. Let's first start of with making sure what version of 1Password you are running. What I would like you to do is open up 1Password and, in the top menu bar, click 1Password>About 1Password.
Then I would like you to take a screenshot of the About window that pops up (instructions: https://support.apple.com/KM204852) and post it here by pressing the picture button on the right side of the post formatting bar.

Thanks Corey. Here you go.

Ah ha! There's the problem. What you have installed is the version from our website. Your Mac App Store license won't work with that one.
Before we move on, do you want to stick with 1Password 6 or are you interested in upgrading to the new 1Password 7 that just released? As a license user, 1Password 7 will be a paid upgrade, either by purchasing a new license or signing up for a 1Password membership (which is $35.88/year not $65). 1Password 7 has a whole load of new features and upgrades that you can read about over at https://support.1password.com/explore/whats-new-mac/.

For now I'll stick with 6, and maybe upgrade to 7 later.
So I just need to go to the app store and redownload it? I'm not a super whiz with app store stuff.

Move the currently installed version to the trash, empty the trash, and then restart your Mac. Then install 1Password using the Purchases tab in the App Store (while signed into the Apple ID you used to make the original purchase). :)

Ok, so I did that, but only 1password7 is in the app store. I had purchased Version 5.x and ended up at 6 through free upgrades.

@BlueskySusan Click the Purchases tab at the top of the Mac App Store window. 1Password 6 will be listed there.

I followed @Corey_C suggestion to go to App Store - Purchases, but I do not see 1Password there from when I purchased it. I have downloaded 1Password6 from the website. Is the only way to get my vault sync to my new laptop to take a manual backup from my other laptop? Or setup iCloud or Dropbox sync? cc @Ben

Are you certain you purchased from Apple? What does your receipt say? If you did purchase from Apple please make sure you’re signed into the same Apple ID that the purchase was made on.

I also bought the PC version of the 1Password License over 4 years ago and now I can't put the serial number in the new version... can you send me a guide of how to do that, please?

@AlfredoArrieta: A license for an old version won't work in the new one. You can either purchase a license for the current version if you prefer to use that, or continue using the version you already paid for. I've resent your license information via email, but if you have any questions please let me know!
