1PW on iPad will not recognize finger on the home button, while the charging cable is plugged in

I was trying to invoke 1PW on iPad, so I could log into one of my apps.
The fingerprint icon in 1PW was displayed, I touched my thumb to th e home button, 1PW would not unlock. I had rotated my thumb and lifted and pressed again, several times.

After unplugging the charge cable, 1 Pw recognized my thumb.

This happened two times in a row. Once to log into an app, and again to log into this forum to report the bug.

  • Hi @cappy,

Is this an Apple brand charger and cable? I’ve seen issues with off brand equipment, and even occasionally Apple’s own stuff but less frequently, while charging iOS devices. I’ve seen using the device while charging cause the screen to be less responsive / unresponsive and other similar difficulties.

Yes, it is an Apple charger.
There is slight chance the cable may not be form Apple, but the charger is for sure.
There are times where I pull the cable from one charger or another and use in my Macbook, so it's hard to keep track.
I did buy an extra set of cables at one point, but I only use Apple chargers.

  • I suspect that may be the issue. Please try with a different cable (preferably Apple branded) and let us know how it turns out. Regardless, unfrortunately, I don’t think this is an issue with 1Password that we’ll be able to address. We’re using standard Apple APIs for Touch ID. The code for interfacing with it is fairly brief, and standard.
