Password is right but 1Password won't open. Weird issue.
I upgraded to v7 this morning. I am having every weird issue you can think of ever since. Very disappointed. Wish I never upgraded.
Anyways this is one of the issues:
I know my master pass and I have my emergency kit. My master pass works in 1Password website when I login to my personal vault. But from Mac it won't open. It requires a master pass which belongs to a shared vault I had a long time ago and never use. That vault is frozen too. Now I know that master pass and when I enter I can open 1Password desktop. I edited the preference:
- set "Always open to "Personal"
But the 1Password only opens with that old pass for shared vault. I am helpless and do not know what to do? For years I opened my 1Password with my main pass now it asks for a pass for another abandoned vault.
I don't even know which vault is my default or primary vault.
Aside from all this I have 2 friendly questions, mostly from your marketing team:
1. Why a product should be released and cause this much of hassle for a loyal user that is happily using your app for YEARS?
2. Why everything has to change when I just chose to upgrade my plan. Why my vaults has to be such a mess now while it was working in such harmony just before I mistakenly decided to pay more to Agilebits? (upgrading my plan)

@rouzbeh: Thanks for getting in touch. I'm sorry for the confusion! The 1Password app unlocks using the Master Password of the first vault you have setup there. It sounds like that's the "shared" vault you mentioned. If you have all of your data in your 1Password.com account (or the "shared" vault is stored somewhere on your computer, perhaps in your Dropbox folder), you can reset the app to set it up with only your account; that way it will use your account's Master Password to unlock. So, first, make sure you have all of your data in your account by signing into the website:
https://start.1password.com/vaults
If you have everything there, you can reset the app:
https://support.1password.com/starting-over/
Then sign into your account to set it up again:
https://support.1password.com/add-account/
As for your questions:
Why a product should be released and cause this much of hassle for a loyal user that is happily using your app for YEARS?
I am not sure what you're asking here, but I am sorry for the trouble you've had. We're here to help in any way we can. Once you have everything setup with your account, you'll find it's much easier to upgrade or setup new devices, since all you do is sign in to access your data.

1Password.com memberships were introduced years ago, so this isn't something that's changed recently. But certainly if you were used to the old way of doing things it can be a slight adjustment. But again, we're here to assist along the way.
I hope this helps. Be sure to let me know if you have any other questions! :)

I'm having a similar issue. Ever since upgrading to V7, the iOS app won't let me log in, error wrong password every time. However, same password opens both the desktop app and my web account. Please advise. Frustrating!

@brenty: Confirmed all my data is there when signing into the website. Correct, 1Password.com account has a different Master Password than the desktop app and iOS app (the password for those two are the same). When using the 1Password.com account password, I am able to access the iOS app. However, the desktop app still uses the original password created prior to upgrading to v7 and obtaining access to 1Password.com. How to I make all three the same password, without the risk of loosing data?

@undwd: Since all of your data is in 1Password.com, you could literally nuke your devices from orbit and get all of your data back afterward by simply signing into your account. I'm sorry for not providing next steps for you in my previous reply, but I didn't want you to delete anything unless we're both on the same page.
So, since your account has all your data, you can reset the app, and then when you set it up again with only your 1Password.com account, you'll have all of your data again, and it will use your account's Master Password to unlock. Let me know how it goes! :)
