Hello,

I needed to reset a family member but I can't seem to add the new account on her mac. The account + / - buttons are greyed out and I can't login with the old master password as it has been reset.

1Password Version: 7.07
Extension Version: n/a
OS Version: 10.13.5
Sync Type: 1Password Family Account

  • Hi @J_J

The account +/- buttons are greyed out as you are not able to add or remove accounts when 1Password itself is locked. If the recovered family account is the only 1Password account your family member has on her Mac then the best route is to reset the data on that device. You can start over, and add back the family account using the recovered Secret Key and new Master Password.

You can follow these steps to do so:

    • Open 1Password for Mac.
    • Choose Help > Troubleshooting > Reset All 1Password Data and follow the onscreen instructions.
    • Restart 1Password for Mac.
    • Sign in to the recovered family account with the new Secret Key and Master Password.

If you have multiple 1Password accounts on her Mac then please contact us at support@agilebits.com so we can get more information from you and help you further.
