I need to run Mavericks (10.9.5) for a few more months until I get time to upgrade my machines to a newer OS X.

1Password 4 no longer works with Firefox.

I see that 1Password 6.8.9 should works with mavericks according to this page

https://1password.com/downloads/

But I can't install it. A friend I really trust says he was able to install it on Mavericks.

I contacted AgileBits support and Trace said this "Sorry to hear about the trouble, ... but 1Password 6 requires OS X Yosemite 10.10 or later."

Well, their own page says it should work with Mavericks, and as I said, a friend was able to install it on Mavericks.

So does it or does it NOT work on mavericks?

if it should work, why I can't install it? you will find my screenshots here

if it does NOT work on Mavericks, then why was my friend able to install it?

    @spacetime,

    The downloads page is definitely in error and I have filed an issue with the web team to get that corrected.

    1Password 6.8.9's minimum OS is 10.10.

    You'd need to use 1Password 4.4.3 for Mavericks.

    Fine, but then I know someone who was able to install it in 10.9.5

    How was that possible?

    @spacetime: Since "installing" a macOS app involves simply dragging the app to a folder, it's certainly technically possible. But what's impossible is using 1Password 6 on Mavericks. The OS will refuse to run it.
