Update Problem [workaround: Quit 1Password Completely before updating]

I'm having trouble updating 1Password on my iMac. Every day, the App store app informs me that an upgrade for 1Password is available. When I attempt to update via the App Store window, it hems and haws for a minute or so and tells me to Quit 1Password to allow the update to proceed. 1Password is not running when this happens. I've tried disabling the 1Password extension on Safari, Google and Firefox browsers and that doesn't work either. This has been going on for weeks now.

What am I doing wrong?

Sorry if this is covered in another thread; I looked but didn't see anyone else with a similar problem.

@Dawgspiel this has been quite widely discussed here on the forum. You need to quit 1Password 7 completely by pressing control + option + command + Q and you should then find that 1Password will update with the newer version from the App Store.

Thanks. I figured it had. I tried force quit on my own and it worked.

  • Thanks for the update. :+1:
